When conventional fieldbuses reach their limits
Conventional fieldbuses allow automation products from different manufacturers to be combined using standardized technology. Due to limited performance, however, it was often necessary to use different fieldbuses for different automation tasks.
This required the use of different tools, an increased number of interface modules and restrictions to diagnostics and infrastructure components.
Real time transfer
As a successor to classic fieldbus technology, POWERLINK offers maximum performance and uncompromising real-time capabilities based on the internationally established Ethernet standard. A transmission speed of 100 Mbit/s and a synchronization accuracy of +/- 100 ns allow even the most demanding tasks in the areas of control engineering, robotics, CNC and motion control to be combined in a single network.
The advantages of an integrated control solution are thus supported in the best possible way. The user can concentrate on machine development and the automation solution without having to consider the fieldbus.
Leading manufacturers rely on POWERLINK
POWERLINK provides the necessary power reserve, making it the ideal basis for future innovations and modular machine concepts. The topology freedom of the Ethernet standard also makes it possible for the user to optimally adapt the wiring to the machine design and thus save wiring costs. POWERLINK is an open technology and defined worldwide as an IEC standard.
Leading manufacturers in the areas of control technology, drive technology, sensors, pneumatics, vision and robotics already rely on POWERLINK. With openSAFETY, POWERLINK offers the only open safety standard for integrated safety technology according to IEC 61508. This increases the performance of the machine and system and reduces downtime.
