Latest operating system for critical applications
The new APROL release is based on the new SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15. This operating system is specially hardened for critical applications and meets the security requirements of networked production systems.
The new APROL release was launched for pilot customers in July 2023, and with the publication of Patch 1, APROL R 4.4 has now been generally released.
Technology stack has been extensively updated.
Important APROL components have been updated to the latest versions, including Linux kernel 5.14, OpenSSL 3.0, MariaDB 10.6, PHP 8 and PostgreSQL 14. This is an important basis for ensuring IT security.
Update policy based on containerization
A new update policy based on container technology makes it possible to protect applications better than ever before from APROL R4.4. Software modules are encapsulated into independent packages called containers, each of which can be selectively updated without affecting the others.
Historical database with improved performance
APROL will rely on TimescaleDB as a database for historical data in the future. The short access times provide an ideal basis for evaluations with the JasperReports server. This report server has also been updated to the latest version 8.0 and is now running in a container.
Easy IT integration
As more and more automation solutions are integrated into a company's IT structure, B&R has integrated a public key infrastructure (PKI) and a common certificate store into APROL.
Numerous new functions in APROL R 4.4
