GENERAL INFORMATION
----------------------------------------------------------------

You can update or save the BIOS a B&R Power Panel 300/400 with
this software.

----------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE PROCEDURE
----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Copy all files to a bootable disk.
(Alternatively, a bootable CompactFlash card or a bootable
USB stick can be used. Detailed information can be found in
the PP300/400 User Manual)

2. Insert the disk in a (USB) floppy drive connected to the Power Panel and re-boot the device.

3. A boot menu with following options is shown after booting:

1. Update BIOS (autoselect) => default after 5 sec

The BIOS will be updated automatically.

***********************************************
Write down your BIOS settings before upgrading!
***********************************************

After a BIOS update the BIOS uses automatically the CMOS
default settings. If you have changed settings in the BIOS
Setup you must change these settings again after update!

***************************
Do not abort a BIOS update!
***************************

Otherwise the Power Panel cannot be rebooted afterwards
and must be sent to B&R for repair. Retry the aborted
update process WITHOUT rebooting the Power Panel, for
example by directly calling batch file UPDBIOS.BAT.

2. Save BIOS (directory SAVED)

The BIOS will be saved automatically in the directory
SAVED.

***********************************************************
There must be about 256 kbytes free space left on the disk.
***********************************************************

3. Exit

Exit to the Shell (MS-DOS).

4. Select the desired action.

5. Remove disk and reboot device (after successful update only!).

Fixes:
- BIOS: Bugfix regarding network problems on PP300/400 devices:
At high network load and BIOS versions smaller V1.19 it can be
possible, that on certain PP300/400 devices the network
connection is lost (for device containment see B&R web history). Connections via VNC or Terminal application will be interrupted and can only be rebuilt by rebooting the PP300/400 device. Theoretically, there can also be failures with aPCI cards.

Description BIOS Upgrade
BIOS Upgrade for B&R Power Panel 100 devices with BIOS (5PP120.0571-27, 5PP120.1043-37 and 5PP120.1505-37).

Further information about the BIOS Update see the readme files!

Fixes:

- Text corrections in batch and readme files.
- The Power Panel resets now the CMOS values to the default
settings after three instead of four faulty boot-ups.
- The Hardware ID of an aPCI module in slot 2 was not shown in
the Setup.

Changes:

- New flash utility XFLASH.EXE with improved aPCI and FPGA
support.
- FPGA.ROM replaced by 5751_1.PCI.
- Only FPGA files burned with XFLASH V1.02 are supported.
- Factory Settings version is shown in Summary Screen.
- "Clear Memory" can be specified with "Enabled/Disabled" instead count of MBytes. If enabled the BIOS clears the complete memory always.
- After restoring the CMOS from the CMOS backup the checksum of
the CMOS values is checked again. This avoids setting the CMOS

- If Legacy USB is disabled, the USB status is shown as
"Legacy OFF" in the Summary Screen.
